Summary

## What matters before moving forward.

- 221 Portuguese clinics (dental, physiotherapy, veterinary, aesthetic) show weak signals for generative answer engines.
- The most common problem isn't a missing website, it's missing structure that an AI system can read with confidence.
- Patients already ask AI assistants for local healthcare recommendations, and a clinic without structured signals doesn't make it into that answer.
- Fixing this doesn't require a new website; it requires schema, FAQ content, and consistent data between the site and the Google Business Profile.

## Excellent, yet invisible

Out of the 1,585 Portuguese companies in Vokzar's audit base, we isolated clinics (dental, physiotherapy, veterinary, aesthetic) and specifically evaluated the signals that determine whether a generative AI system can understand and correctly cite what the clinic does, where it is, and how to book an appointment.

221 failed those criteria. Not because of poor reputation or poor service, but because they lack the technical structure that lets a system like ChatGPT or Perplexity trust the information enough to recommend it.

## Weak AIO/GEO signals

In most cases, it's a combination of small but cumulative gaps: no MedicalOrganization or LocalBusiness schema, no machine-readable service list, no FAQ covering the questions a patient actually asks (do you accept this insurance? is there a Saturday appointment?), and hours or address that don't match between the website and the Google Business Profile.

None of these problems are visually obvious to a site visitor. The design can be flawless. That's exactly why they go unnoticed and keep costing patients the clinic never finds out it lost.

## Why it matters now

Local healthcare search is shifting from search and compare ten results to ask an assistant and trust the first answer. That raises the bar: ranking on page one of Google is no longer enough, the system needs to confidently extract verifiable facts about the clinic.

That's the role of structured schema and question-and-answer content: not a technical extra, but what makes a clinic citable instead of invisible to these systems.

## What to fix first

The priority is not rebuilding the site. It is, in this order: health-organization schema aligned with the real content, a structured FAQ with the questions patients ask before booking, and consistent address, hours, and contact details between the website and the Google Business Profile.

These three points alone resolve most of the invisibility cases we found in this sample, and none of them require changing the design or the existing platform.

## Frequently asked questions

**What is MedicalOrganization schema?**

A type of structured data that describes a healthcare organization: services offered, address, hours, and contact details, in a format search engines and AI systems can read directly.

**Does this only apply to dental clinics?**

No. It applies to any health or wellness clinic with a local presence: physiotherapy, veterinary, aesthetic clinics, nutrition, and more.

**How do I know if my clinic is in this group?**

Only by evaluating the site directly. Request an SEO/GEO audit and you'll get a diagnosis using the same criteria used in this report.
