Summary

## What matters before moving forward.

- 223 Portuguese online stores, within Vokzar's audit base, have at least one technical failure capable of interrupting a purchase.
- Most aren't broken stores: they're stores that work fine for manual testers and silently lose customers.
- The most common failures cluster around product schema, mobile performance, and checkout friction.
- Fixing by impact order, not visibility order, is what separates a real fix from a cosmetic patch.

## Stores lose customers

Out of the 1,585 Portuguese companies in Vokzar's audit base, we isolated online stores and applied the same technical criteria we use in commercial audits: product schema, catalogue indexability, Core Web Vitals, and checkout friction.

223 stores failed at least one of these criteria badly enough to reduce conversion. None of them are broken in any obvious sense: they all load, they all show products, they all seem to work when someone tests them manually.

## Three recurring failures

Missing or incomplete product schema: without structured price, availability, or rating, the store loses eligibility for rich results and becomes harder for search and AI systems to interpret.

Core Web Vitals outside the acceptable range, mostly on mobile: unoptimized images, third-party scripts blocking load, and response times Google already treats as a direct negative signal for search.

Checkout friction: redundant steps, forms that don't validate well on mobile, or payment and shipping methods that stay unclear until the last step. Every extra step is a chance for the customer to abandon.

## Why these failures go unnoticed

Whoever runs the store rarely tests it, and usually does so on desktop, with a good connection, already knowing the purchase path. That's the exact opposite of a new customer's experience: on mobile, on mobile data, deciding in seconds whether to trust the store enough to proceed.

Without continuous measurement (Core Web Vitals on the real deployment, schema validation, mobile checkout testing), these failures stay invisible to whoever runs the business and keep costing sales every day.

## Where to start fixing

The right priority isn't the most visible failure, it's the one blocking the most value: usually that means mobile performance first, because it affects all traffic, then product schema, because it affects discovery and trust, and only then fine checkout optimizations.

A technical audit exists exactly for this kind of prioritization: separating what is urgent from what is merely nice to have, before spending budget fixing what's visible instead of what matters most for conversion.

## Frequently asked questions

**What counts as a technical failure in this report?**

Any signal capable of measurably reducing conversion: missing product schema, Core Web Vitals outside the acceptable range, or checkout steps that increase abandonment risk.

**Does a slow store really lose customers?**

Yes. Google treats Core Web Vitals as a direct search quality signal, and slow response times increase abandonment, especially on mobile.

**How do I know if my store has any of these failures?**

Only by evaluating the store directly. Request a technical audit and you'll get a diagnosis using the same criteria used in this report.
